Students and staff at DeForest Area High School invite the community to join the Homecoming Celebration during the week of October 3-8. The theme for this year’s celebration is “Professions: We’re so good, we’re professional.” Everyone in the community is welcome to enjoy the pep rally, parade, athletic events, and grand march.
The annual community pep rally will be held from 7 to 8 pm on Monday, October 3 in the high school’s north gym. The evening will include performances by the high school choir, band and cheerleaders. Student skits and lip-synch performances are sure to entertain. The 2011 Homecoming Court will be introduced, and students will compete in friendly games.
The high school will be splashed with signs of homecoming as well. Each class will prepare a mural, banner and other decorations relating to this year’s theme for display throughout the halls of the school.
The parade, which is scheduled for Friday, October 7, will begin at the high school at 5 pm, then proceed to the south of the high school onto Rauls Trail, then Yorktown Road, to Cleveland, then Jefferson Street back to the high school.
The annual homecoming dance for high school students will be held on Saturday, October 8 at the high school, from 8 pm to 12 midnight. The grand march, where the homecoming court and 2011 king and queen are announced, will begin at 9:30 pm, with doors opening to the public at 9 pm. Visitors are asked for a $1 donation to benefit high school student council projects.
A complete schedule of community and school activities is available on the DeForest Area School District’s website: www.deforest.k12.wi.us. Questions about the week’s festivities can be directed to Tom August at the high school, 842-6840.
