Staff development continues throughout the summer

Staff collaborate and learn through a variety of ways during the school year and summer. Strong professional development opportunities ensure that staff are fully prepared to meet the ever challenging landscape of modern education. This summer staff were involved in learning activities such as:

  • Norski Camp – In June, 144 teachers, support staff and administrators participated in one or more of 53 in-house professional development sessions focused on Response to Intervention, Balanced Literacy, PBIS, and Grading/Assessment
  • Viterbo University Courses – Over 65 teachers completed graduate-level courses taught on the DASD campus in Collaboration and Common Assessment, Community Building, Digging into Differentiation, Project Based Learning, Understanding, Supporting, and Teaching Executive Functioning Skills of Students
  • Workshops and Conferences – Staff members attended the Disciplinary Literacy Institute, Early Literacy Institute, Google Summit, Jump Start to Literacy, and Lucy Calkins Summer Institute.
  • and several training sessions for specialized areas

On August 14, several elementary school teachers attended a Lucy Calkins Writing Workshop at Yahara Elementary School.
