First one November 5
The DeForest Police Department and DeForest Area School District are sponsoring three informational sessions for parents/guardians of school-age children, as well as all adults in the community.
The presentations are intended to provide awareness and education about the use of marijuana, alcohol, heroin, and prescription medications. Speakers will share with parents the warning signs and possible steps to take to help a loved one from making major life altering decisions. Parents and others will learn about the “look fors” (t-shirts, language, culture), what the drugs actually look like, prevalence of use in the area, trends, and resources for assistance.
The first session is scheduled for Tuesday, November 5. Germantown School Resource Officer, Toni Olson, will be presenting information on the use of marijuana.
Additional sessions are scheduled for Thursday, January 30 and Tuesday, February 25.
All presentations will be held at 6:00 pm in the DeForest Area High School Little Theater.
In addition, the DeForest Area School District and DeForest Police Department are hosting a special Online Safety presentation for all parents/guardians on Thursday, November 21, at 6:30 pm at the high school Performing Arts Center. Officer Brian Johnson, School Resource Officer with the DeForest Police Department will be covering topics such as online predators, cyber-bullying, and how to protect personal information online.
Please note that all of these presentations are designed for adults. They are not intended for children.
