Each year students at Morrisonville Elementary School participate in a community service project. This year’s project was called “Decorating with Dimes and Dollars”. Students collected change and gently used ornaments to decorate Christmas trees for families in need, which were donated by the PTO from their annual Christmas tree sale. Students collected $139, which allowed them to deck out two trees with tree stands, tree skirts, lights, ornaments and a star tree topper. The two trees were donated to two families in the Morrisonville community. They also purchased and decorated a small table top tree, which they gave to a senior citizen in the community. On December 18, Morrisonville students went caroling throughout the community. One of their stops was the DeForest Area Community & Senior Center, where they gave each senior citizen a musical note ornament and a plate of Christmas cookies.
According to 3rd/4th grade teacher Julie Harrie, “Students had a great time with this service project and created many wonderful memories for all involved.
