Middle school assistant principal Kim Christian recently announced 7th and 8th Grade Students of the Month for March. According to Christian, “Students are chosen by teachers for demonstrating respect, responsibility and safety the Norski way.” It is part of the school’s PBIS (Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports) program whereby all schools focus on student behavior that is respectful, responsibility and safe.
PBIS is a district-wide initiative for creating safer and more effective schools. It uses consistent positive reinforcement to celebrate students’ success and concentrated efforts to reach those students who struggle to reach behavior expectations.
At the middle school, students who are selected each month will be invited to a recognition breakfast at the end of the semester. Each student may invite their families and a staff member to join him/her.
