The Eagle Point Elementary School PTO didn’t host a typical school fundraiser this spring to raise funds for the school. Rather than selling wrapping paper or pizzas, the group incorporated a health and wellness activity for students. Students collected pledges/donations for running, jogging or skipping laps around a “track” for 20 minutes. Principal Ann Schoenberger ran with each of the four groups of students throughout the day on April 23, for a total of 60 laps!
According to EPES PTO President Lisa Wink, students ran a total of 4,134 laps, or 413.40 miles!. They raised $5,171.38, which will go towards purchasing Smartboards for EPES classrooms.
