Students share what they’ve learned this year through DeForest “Amazing Race”

DeForest Area seventh grade students had the opportunity to participate in the “ Amazing DeForest Race”.  The race took place on May 14 in the DeForest Fireman’s Park area and surrounding public buildings.  The race was designed to use the various academic skills students have learned in seventh grade as they explore their community.   Students used their map reading skills, literacy skills, time management skills, and cooperative group skills to complete tasks in a variety of content areas.

This first-ever event for DeForest Area Middle School involved about 130 students, over 26 chaperones, and 20+ community members supervising challenge activities for students.  The event was organized by 7th grade teacher social studies teacher Beth Stofflet. IMG_0783IMG_0770IMG_0773
