DeForest Area High School Student Council members sponsored their annual Veterans Day assembly on Friday, November 7, in the high school gym. The event was open to all high school students and community members to honor all military veterans.
Students learned why Americans celebrate the Veterans Day holiday and honor those who have served or lost their lives in the line of duty. This year’s guest speaker was Jeffrey Unger, Master Sergeant, United States Air Force Retired. He is also the co-founder and President of the DeForest Veterans Memorial Foundation Inc. a non-profit federally chartered public charity that assists the Village of DeForest through volunteer project management in the construction of a permanent Veterans Memorial Park.
