Connor Fox, a 2nd grader at Windsor Elementary School, raised $62 for his school this past summer by participating in a triathlon.
The event, organized by Tri 4 Schools, encourages healthy lifestyles by holding athletic events for kids while at the same time raising money for local schools’ health and fitness programs. Local businesses and individuals donate funds to cover entry fees for children and to cover other expenses. After each race, Tri 4 divides the profits by the number of participants and sends that dollar amount to the child’s school. Funds can be used by the school for any program, equipment, or other resource that gets kids active or teaches them about health.
According to Windsor Principal, Roy Bernards, the school matched the $31 received from Connor’s race, for a total of $62. Connor then chose equipment to be purchased for the school’s playground.
