NBC15 meteorologists help Windsor students learn about tornados

IMG_1553 IMG_1567NBC15 Meteorologist Brian Doogs and Weekend Weather Anchor Amy Carlson visited Windsor Elementary School on Friday, March 13 to talk to third grade students about tornadoes.

The visit was arranged by Reading Specialist Sherri Rogalla.  According to Rogalla, in March all third grade students will be reading the same fiction book called Disaster Strikes: Tornado Alley by Marlane Kennedy. “The teachers were interested in building some background knowledge around the content of this book.  We couldn’t think of a more interesting and knowledgeable person to present this to the kids than a meteorologist!”

The two meteorologists talked with students about the different levels of tornados and precautions to take during a watch or warning.  Then they presented each student with their own copy of the book.
