On March 5 over 130 families with 4-year-old children attended the DeForest Area School District’s annual Early Learning Fair, held at the Holum Education Center.
Children had opportunities to play in the Purposeful Play Area, eat a healthy snack, as well as get their eyes and ears tested. Parents learned more about the community-based four-year-old kindergarten program, called “Get Together 4 Kids (GT4K)”, and had the opportunity for private consultations with educational professionals to discuss early learning issues.
School/Community Relations Coordinator Debbie Brewster thanked the community partners who were involved, including representatives from the local community 4K partners, DeForest Parks and Recreation, Essential Family Vision, Windsor Family Dental, DeForest Area Public Library, DeForest Police Department, Dane County Parent Council (Head Start), and UW-Health.
Each child walked away with a free t-shirt and book, thanks to generous donations from community sponsors.
