Yahara Elementary School PTO officers, Becky Godat and Carol Barth, recently presented a check for $1,111.04 to Reading Specialist Kathy Williams to provide books to Yahara students.

The donation was a result of a joint effort between the school and the PTO to raise funds for the books.  The two groups sponsored a Read-a-Thon in March where for six weeks YES students and staff were challenged to read the equivalent number of minutes as miles to the moon and back!

According to Williams, the money will be used to purchase books for families to read together during the summer months. “Our PTO is incredibly generous and supportive of our efforts to develop lifelong readers. In addition to the family read-a-loud books, each student will also choose 3-4 new books to enjoy over the summer. I am so grateful to work with such a dynamic group of parents,” said Williams.
