This spring, a team of eight students from DeForest Area Middle School placed third in the Dane County Mega Math Meet, coming in behind teams from the larger school districts of Madison and Middleton-Cross Plains. The math competition is held each year by the Greater Dane Co. Network for students in fifth through eighth grades.

According to the organizers, the Math Meet program goals are to stimulate interest in mathematics, recognize exceptional mathematical talent, and provide a healthy academic environment.

“We are very proud of the hard work these students put in to prepare for the meet,” said 7th grade math teacher Tammi Jansen.
