DeForest DECA hosted a haunted house on Saturday, October 29, 2016 from 5-9 pm to raise money for the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA). Internationally, DECA has been a sponsor of MDA for over 30 years! At the event, 45 volunteers contributed 384.5 hours to help prepare the Second Annual DeForest DECA Haunted House. The haunted house had 133 attendees, and raised $1,090.19 for MDA.
DECA member Kennedy West, a junior at DeForest Area High School, stated, “It went really well for the second year and it went better than expected!”
Student organizers of the event were Kaylee Sadeghpour-Hess, Kylie Rogers, and Nate Hill, with the assistance of Joseph Schauf, Emily Chermark and Clayton Gotzion. The group thanked the sponsors who helped make the event possible: Dairy Queen, JD’s Bakery, Mousehouse, Palace Cinema, Papa Murphy’s, Windsor Breads, Yo Fresh, Alliant Energy, BB Jacks, DeForest Self Storage, Clack Corp, Lake Windsor, Mary Schultz Century 21, Pick N Save, and Burrachos. “We really appreciate your assistance in supporting a great cause!” said Sadeghpour-Hess.
