Morrisonville Elementary students brighten the holidays for older adults

This month students at Morrisonville Elementary School participated in their annual holiday giving project. Students colored holiday pictures to be included in cards for older adults in the community.

Students addressed the cards “To Our Senior Friend”  and gave them to the DeForest Area Community & Senior Center.  Center staff included the cards with meals delivered to senior citizens.

“About 150 cards were completed by the students,” said Julie Harrier, first/second grade teacher at Morrisonville. “They were excited to be able to share their coloring with others knowing that it, along with the cards, it would brighten someone’s day,” said Harrier.

According to Barb Cooper, Associate Director for the Center, the cards were delivered to seniors in the community who receive Home Delivered Meals by volunteers.  Barb said that the cards were much appreciated, with comments from senior citizens such as, ““The card is very cute.  Many thanks.” and “It was very kind and considerate to think of us.  It brightened our day.”
