Nearly 80 older adults throughout the community enjoyed breakfast at the DeForest Area Community & Senior Center on Saturday, January 21 thanks to the school district’s LINK-ages Committee and DeForest Area High School students.
Over 25 high school National Honor Society students and several LINK-ages volunteers served guests, while they enjoyed musical performances by high school students Josie Brandmeier, Travis Nelson, Anthony Hagg, Julia Hodkiewicz, and Sarah Bogan.
“We heard a lot of wonderful comments about the food, the music, and the opportunity for socializing with old friends, new friends, and the students,” said LINK-ages co-chair Jane Henze. “Thank you to our LINK-ages volunteers and especially to the NHS students and their advisor Colleen Kollalsch for setting up, serving, providing the music, and cleaning up!” LINK-ages committee members also want to thank Pete Beeber at Rodeside Grill for his generosity in donating the egg casseroles for the event.
LINK-ages, a community/school service organization which promotes and recognizes inter-generational activities in the area, is now planning the annual Bingo party for March 5 at 1:00 pm.
