Dugan Haselow wins Spelling Bee after 27 rounds

Congratulations to 7th grader Dugan Haselow, who won the DeForest Area Middle School’s Spelling Bee held on Wednesday, February 1.  He will moving on to the more challenging regional spelling bee in Stoughton on February 23.  Taking second place was 6th grader Ethan Prusakiewicz. He will serve as the alternate for the regional competition. 

The two competed through 27 rounds with words such as velocipede, indecisively, aplomb, flammable, municipality, contemptible, adherence, cavernous, presumably, maudlin, and consumption.

The regional winner in Stoughton will move on to the state competition in March, for a chance to compete at the national level in Washington, D.C.
