District hosts annual Early Learning Fair for over 140 families

On March 2 over 140 families with 4-year-old children attended the DeForest Area School District’s annual Early Learning Fair, held at the Holum Education Center.

Children had opportunities to play in the Purposeful Play Area, eat a healthy snack, as well as get their eyes and ears tested.  Parents learned more about the community-based four-year-old kindergarten program, called “Get Together 4 Kids (GT4K)”, and had the opportunity for private consultations with educational professionals to discuss early learning issues. Local community preschool/childcare partners were also available to provide information and answer questions.

Several community members were on hand to provide resources for parents.  Each child received a book and a free t-shirt, thanks to generous donations from community sponsors.

Community partners and sponsors included: A Growing Place Preschool, Wisconsin Department of Health Services Birth-to-3 Program, Country Creek Learning Center, DeForest Area High School Drama Club, DeForest Area Park & Recreation, DeForest Area Public Library, Essential Family Vision Care, Gingerbread House Preschool, Little University of Vienna, Windsor Family Dental, Wishing Well 2.0, X-Per-T’s, and Yahara River Learning Center.
