Several students move on to national FBLA competition

On April 2 and 3, 26 members of the DeForest Area High School Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) competed at the state leadership competition in Appleton, Wisconsin. During the two-day conference students competed in a variety of business-related events, as well as attended workshops and toured local businesses.

Sixteen of the students placed in the top eight of their event, earning them recognition at the State Conference.  Nine placed in the top four, earning the right to compete at the National Leadership Conference in Anaheim, California this summer.  According to FBLA advisor Chris Smith, “the DAHS chapter finished 12th overall out of roughly one hundred schools – that’s the highest our school has placed in recent memory.”

Congratulations to Gift Chujor, Mason Hoffman, Chris Kennedy, Abby Williams, Anna Langdon, Abi Gardiner, Joseph Schauf, Adam Horton, and Kaitlyn Franz, who will compete at the National Conference in July.

FBLA is a national student business organization offered through the Business & Information Technology department at the high school.
