Special community presentation on June 19 in the high school PAC

image2.jpegA group of DAHS students who attended the Dane County Youth Social Justice Forum in April came back excited to make changes in their own school.

The April 29th event, attended by over 275 students throughout Dane County, brought youth leaders together to make connections and have conversations around the work of social justice. Dr. Percy Brown Jr., Director of Equity and Student Achievement for the Middleton-Cross Plains Area School District, was the keynote speaker.

According to Brown, the last hour was designed for the students to take what they’ve learned and come up with what they’d like to see happen in their respective school districts and in Dane County.  The DAHS group of students immediately asked school administrators to invite Brown to their high school.  On May 24, Dr. Brown spoke to the entire student body at DeForest Area High School.

The student group also shared their experiences with the school board on June 10, and they have invited Brown to return for a similar community presentation.

The public is invited to attend a special presentation on Wednesday, June 19 at 6:30 pm in the DAHS Performing Arts Center.  See more information below:
