On Saturday, February 6, the DeForest Area High School FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America) chapter finished 1st place out of 25 schools at the Region 5 Leadership Conference.
Members were able to compete virtually this year due to COVID-19. Members took online tests, created videos, and participated in interviews through Google Meets in various business, marketing, and information technology events ranging from Accounting to Supply Chain Management.
DeForest FBLA had 62 of its members compete at the conference. Out of those 62 members, 56 of them placed in the top 8, 47 placed in the top 5, and 37 placed in the top 3 of their event. The members who placed in the top 3 of their event will move on to compete at the virtual State Leadership Conference in April.
The 37 members who advanced to the State Leadership Conference include: Lauren Armstrong, Caleb Bendixen, Owen Chambers, Grace Chujor, Gavin Danner-Rivers, Sarah Dollak, Korbin Eisler, Abigail Esser, Samuel Fischer, Riley Frederick, Kira Fries, Grace Galbraith, Alexander Gardner, Isadora Grothaus, Raegan Hilmershausen, Dominic Jaccard, Gabriel Kennedy, Dylan King, Kyra Lange, Jona Lazami, Lucy Manzetti, Madeleine Martin, Nolan McCann, Phillip McCloskey, Reid Morauske, Rylan Nelson, Maya Pickhardt, Jocelyn Pickhardt, Abigail Prusakiewicz, Kyra Riemer, Zachary Roberts, Dillon Sommers, Mallory Taylor, Tyler Tisch, Olivia Titel, Gabrielle Wilkinson, and Ferris Wolf.

DeForest FBLA adviser Chris Smith would like to thank the officer team for their commitment and dedication to FBLA throughout this past year. While the officer team has been unable to hold meetings in person, they have continued to meet virtually every week since last May to plan events, activities, and community service opportunities for its members. Finishing first place at the Regional Leadership Conference was the culmination of all their hard work throughout the year.
DeForest FBLA would like to send out a huge congratulations to everyone who participated at the Regional Leadership Conference and wish good luck to everyone who will be competing at State in April!
