Being a Norski is very diverse. A district-wide event was held recently for some of the families of our English learners with the opportunity to meet each other, get information about the school district, and ask questions. Based on Public Health Madison & Dane County guidelines, the event was limited to 25 people.
During the event, families were invited to participate in an activity where they shared three pieces of themselves:
- Flag or flags that represent their family and the language/languages they speak
- Their family
- Their favorite family or cultural celebration
The main purpose of the event was for families to get to know one another better since some of them are new to the district and haven’t had the opportunity to interact with others on a face-to-face basis. Families also presented their posters to the group.
This group of students wanted to show their pride in being multilingual and explain why.
