mock interviews with student and staff

High school students learn job interview skills

On November 18, representatives from American Girl/Mattel, Placon, and Old National Bank conducted mock job interviews with students in DeForest Area High School’s Employability Skills class.  Also participating as interviewers were district staff: Director of Human Resources Nate Jaeger, Administrative Support Bill Champeau, College & Career Readiness Coordinator Chris Smith, and Educational Assistant Courtney Butler.

Employability Skills, which is a class offered through the Business Education Department, focuses on preparing students to be successful in securing future employment as well as practicing skills that are essential in the 21st-century workplace. Prior to the mock interviews, students created and enhanced their resumes and rehearsed with sample questions that are typical in job interviews.

We are grateful for the real-world support provided by the representatives of the aforementioned companies and DASD, and the investment they are making in our community.

Tim Wells, Business Education teacher
