Celebrating Cultural Diversity

A Recap of the Multicultural Fair at DAHS

The DAHS Commons was the place to be on April 19 for the annual Multicultural Fair. More than 60 dedicated students from BIPOC, the Latinx Student Union, and Intercambio, along with the guidance of advisors Linda Yang, Kristin Pachal, Amanda Otradovec, and Alicia Eith, worked tirelessly to offer this incredible opportunity. The multicultural fair honors the rich cultures within our community and nurtures a sense of unity.

Throughout the event, DAHS students actively participated in various groups. Performances included Latin American dances by Joaquin Cortez Echenique and Martina Zulkoski, line dances by the DeForest FFA, and traditional Armenian Dances by Caitlin Brunelle, Norika Reif, and Evelyn Schmidt. Also introduced were new groups, such as a Step Dance/Strolling group from UW Madison, Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, along with returning favorites including  the Hmong dance group Ntxhais Tsheej Haj, where Amerlyllise Xiong, a DAHS student, has been a long-time member, a Ballet Folklorico ensemble coordinated by Veronica Tecalero Montes, and the Zhong Yi Kung Fu Association’s Lion dance, in which Lincoln Yang participates.

Additionally, students successfully coordinated donations from local restaurants such as Arods, Arandas, El Alegre, Fresh Mart, Hmong Legacy, and La Taguara. Their generosity ensured that our event remained accessible to all, with no entry fee required.
