DAHS junior Gavin Denning and sophomore Evangeline Erickson have been selected to represent DAHS musical excellence in this year’s Wisconsin School Music Association (WSMA) State Honors Music Project. Both students spent their winter months preparing for their audition where they performed a classical solo and sight read music, along with other requirements. Erickson has been accepted to perform with the Mixed Choir Ensemble, while Denning has been accepted to perform with the Orchestra Ensemble. This will be Gavin’s fourth year performing with Wisconsin’s top auditioned ensemble.

The WSMA State Honors Music Project is nationally recognized as one of the finest opportunities for young people. Students selected for the WSMA State Honors Music Project participate in an intensive four day summer camp in June and perform in Madison during late October as part of the Wisconsin State Music Conference. Students in grades 9, 10, and 11 from WSMA-member schools are eligible to audition for the High School State Honors Music Project, and students must be a regular member of a school music ensemble at the time of auditions and the fall performance.
