DAHS Choir Trip to NYC

Over spring break, forty DeForest Area High School choir members, accompanied by thirteen chaperones, embarked on an unforgettable journey to New York City. This marked the first choir trip in over six years, and it was nothing short of extraordinary.

The trip was packed with excitement, offering our students the chance to explore iconic landmarks, attend Broadway shows, showcase their talent, and create lasting memories. The highlight of their musical journey was undoubtedly their performance at St. John the Divine Cathedral, the largest Cathedral in the world. Under the theme “A New Day, A New Hope,” the choir performed “Soon Ah Will Be Done” by William Dawson, “Let the Sun Shine In” from Hair, and “Light of the Clear Blue Morning” by Craig Hella Johnson.

In addition to their performance, students explored the vibrant culture of New York City. They enjoyed a comprehensive city tour, enjoyed food from Little Italy and Chinatown, paid respects at the solemn 9/11 Museum and Memorial, and explored the rich history of Broadway at the Museum of Broadway. Adding to the excitement, they had the privilege of attending not one, but two Broadway shows – “& Juliet” and “Six.”

One of the most enriching experiences of the trip was a Broadway workshop led by three Broadway performers, one of whom graced the stage later that evening in the performance of “& Juliet.”

The success and joy of this trip have left a lasting impact. Memories of this unforgettable journey will continue to resonate, reminding students of the power of music, exploration, and the bonds formed through shared experiences. The DAHS Choirs will return to NYC during the spring of 2027.

  1. This is a very nice write-up, and all you Choir-Show Attendees should be very proud of their accomplishments and cherished memories that have been made. I know that if it was me, I would surely be proud of all that has happened.

And the combination of fun and fine dining also left a delightful recipe for a memorable experience too. All in all, Great job to everyone involved!
